Icon - the ImagoDei Logo
The icon found in the ImagoDei logo is one depiction of Jesus' many different roles and ministries. This icon is known as "Isus Hristos Invatator" or "Christ the Teacher." This rendition is a Fresco and Sgraffito on plywood panel measuring 2x3 ft. It is a copy of the XIII century icon at Hilandar, Mt. Athos in Greece.A reason this icon was chosen is because we desire to learn to live as Christ calls us to live. It is in Jesus' teachings and example that a pattern for a good life is demonstrated. We discover ever more deeply the significance of this kind of life as we listen and take to ourselves the Way of God through Jesus Christ.
Not only that, but to then take up the call of the Apostle Paul to Timothy to teach others what we have learned and experienced. Paul writes:
You then, my child, be strengthened by the grace that is in Christ Jesus, and what you have heard from me in the presence of many witnesses entrust to faithful men and women who will be able to teach others also. [2 Timothy 2:1-2]This is the image of God through Jesus Christ that we wish to emulate and reflect as Christians and as the Body of Christ.
